Installation instructions for flue gas discharge systems
A flue gas discharge system must not only be well designed but also correctly installed. For this reason, installation instructions are indispensable. They provide direction on material use, fastening and assembly, ensuring the system operates safely and is correct down to the last detail.

The installation instructions have been drawn up in accordance with the current state of science and technology and serve as a general guideline. They are intended for flue gas discharge systems made up of marked parts and components from Burgerhout. Installation should be carried out by an approved installer.
Who does what, and who is responsible for what?
A safe flue gas duct is teamwork, with clear responsibilities:
Designer Selects the correct system type and designs the route based on appliance and building data. Ensures that the installation complies with national regulations after completion.
Installer installs according to the design and the system's installation manuals, in line with national regulations. The installer must demonstrably be competent.
Design and installation: points that make the difference in practice
These are the key points from the regulations:
Gradient and slope
Keep the routing as simple as possible and limit the number of bends. Install horizontal sections with a slope towards the appliance: 5 cm per metre (approximately 3 degrees). This way, the system will drain condensation water in a controlled manner.
Condensate drain
A correct condensate drain is essential. The manual describes, among other things, the open connection to the sewer to prevent the siphon from being emptied by pressure fluctuations. Inspect and clean the siphon periodically as prescribed.
Fixation and bracing
Record the number and position of the brackets. Components must not “hang” on seals. The manual is clear: installing the prescribed brackets is mandatory and is covered by the CE marking.
Airtight and fire-safe cable and pipe penetrations
Seal through-wall and roof penetrations airtight with the appropriate finishing (e.g. roof sheeting or wall plate/rosette, depending on the situation).
Fire safety and encasement
Observe minimum distances to combustible material (according to DoP and classification) and apply fire collars or encasement where necessary, especially in stacked construction.
Record and secure: prevent later discussion
A good installation is also well documented. The manual advises to document the initial situation immediately after assembly, for example with photos of crucial parts (outlet and surroundings, installation in shaft before finishing, trap/condensate drain and connecting pipe). It is also advisable to record which system was used on the appliance, including the installation date and installer.
