Laws and regulations

Flue gas discharge is not a detail, but an essential part of a safe installation. Craftsmanship and the correct application of regulations are at least as important as the product itself. Burgerhout translates standards and legislation into the installer's practice. With systems, documentation, and knowledge that align with daily practice. In this way, we support professionals in making responsible choices—today and in the future.

Together, we make systems safe and functional

The foundation for a safe installation

A flue gas discharge system must simply be installed correctly and according to regulations.

Minor errors in assembly, fastening, or material selection can have major consequences. Therefore, clear regulations and craftsmanship are not a formality, but the basis for safe and responsible installation.

Burgerhout helps you with that. With clear guidelines, practical support, and systems that are precise down to the last detail. This way, you are never on your own.

Below you can read more about topics that make a difference, such as new bracing and CO-certification.

Laws and regulations

The framework for design, assembly, and inspection

You always work within legislation and standards. In the Netherlands, it is Building Works Environmental Decree requirements regarding air quality, ventilation, and the prevention of recirculated exhaust air or flue gas. For ventilation requirements, the Bbl refers to NEN 1087 (new build) English NEN 8087 (existing buildings), including provisions on capacity and placement of openings.

If you work on gas combustion installations (installing, maintaining, repairing or commissioning them), then the mandatory Joint certification. This obligation also applies to work on air supply and flue gas discharge channels

Joint certification

CO certification is mandatory for companies and tradespeople working on gas-fired appliances and associated flue systems. It demonstrates that work is carried out safely, in accordance with established quality standards, and by demonstrably skilled professionals.

This reduces the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and keeps the installation safe to use.
